Breathwork for Nervous System Regulation

Breathwork at TLC is a quarterly, trauma-informed session designed to introduce you to the transformative power of Conscious Connected Breathwork. By utilizing a continuous, rhythmic breathing pattern, we bypass the analytical mind to release stored tension in the body, quiet the "monkey mind," and improve your nervous system’s natural resilience.

Whether you are a beginner or looking to deepen your emotional awareness, this guided journey offers a safe path to balance your nervous system, and reconnect with your body’s innate wisdom.

What to Expect

  • Active rhythmic breathing to help clear stored stress and physical tension
  • Safe physical sensations like tingling or buzzing and temperature changes as your body processes energy
  • Freedom of expression to move, stretch, or make sound in a supportive space
  • A trauma-informed container where you are always in control of your breath
  • Expert guidance from Mel, using a curated playlist to support your journey

No prior breathwork experience is required.

Format

  • This is a foundational breathwork class and will run for approximately 60-75 minutes

What to Bring

  • A water bottle and a journal
  • A comfy eye mask (disposables will be provided) and lip balm.

How to Prepare

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows your abdomen to move freely.
  • Eat lightly. A light snack a few hours prior is perfect. Avoid arriving on a very full or very empty stomach.
  • We encourage clients to plan for some additional time to yourself after class for further processing, rather than jumping straight into your next meeting.

All are welcome! The practices shared are meant to support regulation and resilience over time. This class is offered either as a supportive complement to therapy, mindfulness, and other body-based approaches or as an individual wellness practice. 

Meet Your Guide: Melanie Rasmussen

Mel is a trauma-informed breathwork facilitator, nervous system coach, and licensed respiratory therapist. She blends a clinical understanding of both the breath and nervous system with a calm, supportive presence to help participants feel safe while exploring deep somatic work. Her tailored approach provides the practical tools and expert guidance needed to foster lasting regulation and resilience.
