Group Ketamine Retreat or Individual Ketamine Therapy: Finding the Right Path for Your Healing Journey
At The Lotus Center for Healing & Wellness, we understand that each person’s healing journey is unique. Whether you’re exploring individual ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) or our group ketamine retreat, both pathways can open doors to insight, connection, and emotional relief. But they offer different experiences, and one may align more closely with your current needs, comfort level, and goals.
Let’s explore how they differ, what each offers, and how to discern which is right for you.
What Is Ketamine Therapy?
Ketamine is a medicine long used in medical settings that, at lower doses and in a safe therapeutic environment, has been shown to support people experiencing depression, PTSD, anxiety, or emotional numbness. While ketamine itself is not a cure, it often provides a window of relief and openness—an opportunity for meaningful reflection and growth when paired with skilled preparation and integration support. Ketamine can also provide in depth insight into one’s self that is helpful in self understanding and self compassion.
At The Lotus Center, ketamine therapy always includes:
-
A medical evaluation with one of our APRNs to ensure safety and eligibility.
-
Preparation sessions to help you set intentions and cultivate grounding skills before your medicine session(s).
-
Integration sessions to translate insights from your journey into real-life change after your medicine session(s).
Individual Ketamine Therapy: A Personalized, Private Experience
In individual sessions, clients receive one-on-one care from a therapist, chaplain, or medical provider in a calm, supportive setting. This format allows for deeply personalized exploration, ideal for those processing trauma, navigating complex emotions, or needing more privacy and clinical focus.
Best for you if you:
-
Prefer individualized attention and a slower pace.
-
Are exploring deeply personal or trauma-related material.
-
Want to combine your ketamine sessions with ongoing psychotherapy or medication management.
You’ll work closely with your Lotus provider to tailor each session around your intentions and responses. The private setting creates space for deep reflection and quiet integration.
Group Ketamine Therapy in Utah: Healing in Connection in a Ketamine Retreat
Our Group Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) retreats at The Lotus Center are intentionally designed to harness the power of community. Each group experience includes three parts:
-
Preparation – A guided, therapist and chaplain-led session where participants set intentions, learn grounding tools, and build trust within the group.
-
Medicine Session – A ketamine experience held in a safe, nurturing setting, supported by a licensed therapist, our clinical chaplain, and medical staff.
-
Integration – A virtual follow-up group where participants share reflections and process insights together.
This retreat-style model emphasizes both individual transformation and shared healing. Many participants find that listening to others’ stories—while being witnessed in their own—helps them feel less alone and more connected to something larger than themselves.
Best for you if you:
-
Feel drawn to connection and shared experience.
-
Want structured preparation and post-session integration in community.
-
Appreciate blending science and spirituality in a guided, retreat-like format.
-
Are seeking support in Utah from an inclusive, trauma-informed team.
- Have been wanting to attend a ketamine retreat or psychedelic retreat.
The Science of Belonging: Why Community Matters
Research on neuro-arts and social connection shows that healing in community can regulate the nervous system and strengthen emotional resilience. In group settings, shared rhythm—through music, breath, or gentle sound—enhances a sense of safety and belonging. When participants witness one another’s courage and vulnerability, mirror neurons activate empathy and co-regulation, deepening the integration of insights.
As our Clinical Chaplain, Dr. Jude O’Higgins, often reminds participants:
“We heal in relationship—first with ourselves, and then with the wider circle that reminds us we are never alone in our becoming.”
Which Option Is Right for You?
There’s no single right choice. Healing is highly personal. Consider these reflective questions:
-
Do I feel safer processing emotions privately or in community?
-
Am I seeking solitude and depth—or connection and resonance?
-
What kind of support structure (therapist, friends, spiritual practice) do I have in place for integration?
Your Lotus Center provider can help you discern which path best supports your current season of growth. Sometimes, clients begin with individual sessions and later transition into a group retreat for deeper integration—or vice versa.
A Gentle Reminder
Ketamine therapy, whether individual or group-based, is one piece of a larger holistic care plan that may include psychotherapy, mindfulness, medication management, supplement support, or spiritual care. Each path is designed to help you reconnect with your own inner wisdom, in a setting where safety, compassion, and curiosity guide the process.
Reflective Micro-Practice
Take a slow breath in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Feel your feet supported by the ground.
Ask yourself: What kind of space—quiet or connected—does my healing ask for right now?
Notice the answer without judgment. Let it guide your next step.
