Process Grief, Discover Inner Healing, Connect with Ancestors in a Safe Community Environment
Explore the depth of spiritual camaraderie and holistic growth through participation in one or all of our Sacred Community Connections Ceremonies. These ceremonies are skill groups that foster a nurturing environment where individuals unite in shared experiences, rituals, and wisdom, cultivating profound connections that enrich the soul and empower collective evolution. These skill groups compliment individual therapy and provide a safely contained space that fosters powerful inner work with the intention that this deep inner work can be done in community and with the support of others.
All of these groups are facilitated by our psychedelic clinical chaplain, Jude Higgins, Ph.D.
Grief and Bereavement Support Group
Upcoming Dates: Second Thursday of each month
*An additional Grief and Bereavement Group with a special activity will be held on December 18, 2024. The cost for this group is $40, and the group is limited to 10 people and requires registration. This group will be held 6-8 pm. Please see our Events Calendar for more details.
Our regularly-scheduled grief group is donation-based and is held at the Lotus Center. We will hold these groups on the second Thursday of every month from 6:30-8:30 pm.
This group is open to anyone who is grieving a loss of family, friends, pets, etc.
This is not therapy, but grief processing. We set the protocol for participation (no fixing, no crosstalk, etc.) prior to beginning, and then individuals are encouraged to share their feelings, and everyone will hold space for their grief.
Sometimes, we may have a ritual or ceremony for releasing grief as well.
Please email Jude@lotusslc.org for more information.

Sonic Drum Psychedelic Journey
Upcoming Dates: December 9, 2024 and December 30, 2024
Time: 6:30-8:30 pm
Cost: $30
Workshops may be attended in person or virtually.
Embark on an immersive sonic drum journey, where the rhythmic heartbeat of this ancient percussion instrument carries you into realms of deep relaxation and inner exploration. As you recline in a comfortable space, surrounded by resonant vibrations of the drum allow yourself to surrender to the experience.
Led by a skilled facilitator, the journey begins with gentle breathwork and a guided meditation, preparing your mind and body to receive the healing vibrations. As the rhythms build and intertwine, you may find yourself transported to landscapes of imagination, where the boundaries between self and sound blur, and the language of your soul speaks to you in whispers, echoes, and metaphors.
Each beat, each tone, is a thread in the tapestry of your journey, weaving together moments of release, insight, and transcendence. Whether you seek relaxation, self-discovery, or simply a space to let go and be, the sonic drum journey offers a profound opportunity to connect with the wisdom and healing power of sound, returning you to the world refreshed, renewed, and harmonized.

Death Cafe at The Lotus Center
Held the last Wednesday of each month (*No December Death Cafe)
Time: 5:30-7:30 pm
Cost: Donations accepted
Welcome to our Death Café: a unique and open-hearted gathering where individuals come together to engage in meaningful conversations about death, dying, and the finitude of life. Far from being morbid or somber, Lotus Death Cafés offer a safe and supportive space for exploring these often taboo topics with curiosity, honesty, and compassion.
Over light refreshments, participants are invited to share their thoughts, experiences, and questions surrounding death and mortality. Facilitated by trained hosts, and certified End-of-Life Doulas, our conversations are guided by principles of respect, non-judgement, and active listening, allowing everyone to express themselves authentically without fear.
Whether discussing practical matters like end-of-life planning and funeral arrangements, exploring philosophical and spiritual beliefs about the afterlife, or simply reflecting on the profound impact of death on our lives, each conversation is an opportunity for reflection, connection, and personal growth.
At our Death Cafés, we embrace the reality of death as an integral part of the human experience, and through open dialogue and shared understanding, we seek to cultivate a deeper appreciation for life and a greater sense of acceptance and peace with the inevitability of our own mortality.

Spiritual Grief Support Group
Upcoming Dates: TBA
Time: 6:30-8:30 pm
Cost: $30
May be attended in person or virtually.
Grief is one of our most sacred emotions, but culturally we are often encouraged to “stuff” it down instead of feeling it and riding these tender waves as often as they arise. In many traditional cultures, grief was addressed immediately and often expressed ritually and/or communally, and by engaging with grief in this manner, people were often better equipped to work through traumatic events in a safe, healthy, and communal way. The Lotus Center honors the wisdom inherent in these past cultural traditions by encouraging and providing safe space for community ritualized events.
Embark on a healing journey with our grief group experience in a sanctuary of support and understanding where individuals come together to navigate the complex terrain of loss. Within our compassionate and non-judgmental space, participants find solace in sharing their stories, emotions, and memories and often discover that they are not alone in their sorrow, which facilitates community as well as individual healing. Our empathetic guides and group sessions offer therapeutic activities, heartfelt discussions, and comforting rituals tailored to honor each individual’s unique path through grief. Together we embrace the process of healing and find strength in community as we navigate the waves of sorrow and emerge gently transformed.
Please email Jude@lotusslc.org for more information and/or to register.

Please note: It is recommended that participants attend our Sonic Drum Psychedelic Experience prior to attending our grief group.
Ancestor Connection Ceremony
Upcoming Dates and Times: TBA
Join us for a deeply enriching group event as we gather to honor and celebrate our ancestors, those who have paved the path before us and whose legacies continue to shape our lives. Rooted in reverence, and gratitude (or perhaps anger--we address that aspect as well), our gathering offers a sacred space where we come together as a community to pay homage to the wisdom, resilience, and love passed down through generations.
Guided by rituals and traditions from diverse cultures and spiritual practices, our event invites participants to connect with their ancestral lineage in meaningful and transformative ways. Through storytelling and ceremonial practices, we create a tapestry of remembrance, weaving together the threads of our collective heritage.
As we honor our ancestors, we also acknowledge the interconnectedness of all and the importance of preserving and honoring the wisdom of those who came before us. Together, we create a container of love and reverence where we can explore our own identities, heal ancestral wounds, and draw strength and inspiration from the spirits of our beloved departed.
Whether you come to honor a specific ancestor, explore your family history, or simply to connect with the larger tapestry of humanity, our group event offers a profound opportunity for reflection, healing, and connection.
Please email jude@lotusslc.org if you are interested in joining.
