Ketamine & Transformational Care: Discover New Possibilities for Healing
Maybe you've been doing everything you're supposed to do. You've tried therapy. Medications. Coping skills. You understand your patterns. And yet something still feels stuck. Or perhaps you're simply wondering whether another approach to healing exists.
Ketamine treatment offers a different option for some people experiencing persistent mental health challenges. At The Lotus Center, we approach ketamine as part of a larger process of care that may include preparation, medical treatment, therapy, reflection, and integration.
We understand that transformation isn't simply about having a powerful experience.
Transformation is about what becomes possible after a powerful experience.
Does This Sound Familiar?
I feel...
- Like I've tried everything
- Stuck in patterns I understand but can't seem to change
- Exhausted from dealing with depression or anxiety
- Discouraged by treatments that haven't helped enough
- Disconnected from myself or my life
- Like trauma continues to shape how I respond to the world
- Curious about ketamine but unsure what to expect
- Nervous about trying something unfamiliar
- Like I'm searching for something deeper than symptom relief
- Full of questions about myself, my life, or what comes next
- Ready to explore another possibility
Sometimes healing isn't about trying harder.
Sometimes we need a different way of encountering ourselves and the patterns we've been living inside.
What Is Ketamine Treatment?
Ketamine is a medication that has been used medically for decades. In mental health care, ketamine and the related medication esketamine are used in specific clinical contexts, particularly for some people experiencing depression that hasn't responded adequately to other treatments.
Research suggests ketamine can produce relatively rapid changes in depressive symptoms for some patients. It also affects brain processes associated with neuroplasticity, which is the brain's capacity to change and adapt.
Although it is a powerful treatment, ketamine isn't appropriate for everyone, and it isn't a guaranteed solution.
At TLC, treatment begins with careful evaluation so that you can understand your options, potential benefits and risks, and whether ketamine treatment may be appropriate for you.
The Experience Is Only Part of the Journey
Ketamine can sometimes create experiences that feel very different from ordinary consciousness. Some people describe shifts in perspective, emotions, memories, imagery, sensations, or their sense of connection to themselves and the world around them.
Experiences vary widely. A session may feel peaceful, emotional, confusing, challenging, meaningful—or even difficult to describe at all. There isn't a “right” kind of ketamine experience. And having an extraordinary experience isn't the goal.
The larger question is what that experience allows you to notice, explore, or approach differently afterward.
Imagine Experiencing...
A little more space around thoughts that once felt consuming.
Seeing an old problem from a different perspective.
Compassion toward a part of yourself you've spent years criticizing.
Hope after a long period of feeling stuck.
Becoming curious about yourself again.
Recognizing that your past can influence you without having to define everything that comes next.
Discovering possibilities you couldn't see before and beginning to translate those possibilities into changes in your everyday life.
Transformation doesn't necessarily mean becoming someone new. Sometimes it means discovering more freedom in how you live as yourself.
Explore Your Path Through Ketamine Therapy
Ketamine treatment isn't one single experience or protocol. The appropriate approach depends on your symptoms, medical history, medications, treatment history, goals, and individual needs.
At TLC, ketamine therapy & transformational care may include several forms of support, such as:
-
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) combines ketamine treatment with therapeutic preparation, support, and integration. Rather than viewing the medication as the entire treatment, KAP creates space to explore the thoughts, emotions, memories, questions, or perspectives that may emerge as part of a broader therapeutic process.
-
Spravato Treatment
Spravato® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved prescription treatment for certain adults with depression and is administered under medical supervision in a certified healthcare setting. TLC's medical team can help determine whether Spravato may be an appropriate treatment option based on your history and symptoms.
-
Preparation & Integration
What happens before and after ketamine treatment can be an important part of the process. Preparation can help you approach treatment with realistic expectations, curiosity, and support. Integration gives you space afterward to explore what arose and consider how new insights or perspectives might relate to your everyday life. These processes may happen on an individual or group level.
-
Meaning & Spiritual Care
Transformational experiences sometimes raise questions that extend beyond symptoms:
Who am I? What matters to me? What am I ready to release? What am I becoming? How do I make sense of what I experienced?
Spiritual Care can provide a nonjudgmental space to explore meaning, identity, spirituality, values, and questions that may emerge during periods of significant change.
-
Nervous System & Whole-Person Support
Transformation doesn't happen separately from the body. Sleep, stress, relationships, movement, nutrition, nervous-system health, therapy, medication, and community can all influence our capacity to create and sustain change. TLC's broader whole-person services can complement ketamine treatment when appropriate.
Healing Happens Before, During, and After the Medicine
At TLC, we think of ketamine treatment as a journey rather than a single event.
Preparation → Experience → Rest & Recovery → Integration
Preparation
Before treatment, you'll have an opportunity to learn what to expect, discuss your history and goals, and prepare for the experience. The goal isn't to control what happens. It's to enter the process with information, support, and openness.
The Experience
During treatment, your experience may include changes in perception, emotion, imagery, memory, physical sensation, or perspective. Some experiences feel comfortable. Others can be challenging. Your care team is there to support your safety and wellbeing throughout treatment.
Rest & Recovery
Afterward, give yourself time. Rest, hydration, quiet, nature, music, journaling, or creative expression may provide gentle ways to allow the experience to settle.
Integration
Integration is the process of turning all of that insight into meaningful change. Integration asks:
What do I want to carry from this experience into my life?
Therapy, reflection, mindfulness, spiritual care, group integration, journaling, creativity, and supportive relationships can all provide opportunities to explore what emerged.
Healing rarely comes from insight alone. It grows as insight becomes lived experience.
